I think its a sports reference, a surprising bounce/deflection.

Blacked out ones are either already tested or for a different group than my regular test group

That makes sense, would be in the testing column. Which is basically what we have on the "to play" shelf. Reminds me, I probably need to update that with some new arrivals.

Hugo Noms sounds like a you tube channel run by a dapper, but slightly camp food critic eating snacks, deserts and entrees and rating them.

My peak was changing how a big team did their yearly briefs. I totally revamped the format so it wasn't just the leaders doing a presentation one after the other.

We got 94% said the format was better. 2% worse and 4% even on the feedback forms. (450)

As it was my idea, i got to take that credit

The thing with doing comms as a job, is you have to be able to show how you added value.

You need to be able to demonstrate, for example, what % of people did the pre-work to save all their settings before the organization does a software upgrade.

Metrics are how you prove your worth there.
February 11, 2026 at 7:16 PM
Any communications project needs a comms plan and that includes a goal, key messages, desired outcomes, channels, timings, and measuring success.

A new you tube channel is just another communications project, so i treated it exactly like I would a work project and did a full plan.

There is at least one channel out there who does BG reviews and they get no views. And that's because 10 years ago they did minecraft videos and some of them were popular and got a ton of views.

I can't recall who they are because the content was not interesting, but yeah.

And this is why i keep thinking marketing people at board game companies should be training themselves on what internet metrics actually mean.

I had the good fortune of being a public sector communications person for years before starting the channel. I knew about metrics and measuring comms.

Aucklands a bit far to drive for a roast chicken mate :)

rotisserie chickens are nicknamed "Bachelor handbags" in New Zealand.

Because it used to be a cliche that a young single man would pick one up for dinner alone and use the leftovers for lunch.

They're a bit pricey nowadays
February 11, 2026 at 4:16 AM
Are they mats or boards?
February 10, 2026 at 10:45 PM
Those player boards are something very special
