So true! The new one reads like the intent is be prepared to break grapples on allies or else you die. Given the increased deadliness of extract brain thanks to it being a save with half damage, keeping the Int save against stun really feels like a batter way to go.

New one also says has the grappled condition from all the tentacles, a weird thing to point out. Wonder if this is poor playtesting, intended deadliness if you don't have fighter to come shove you apart, or more like carrion crawler that's just clearly missing rules

I get how wild this is, but I also just wanna point out because I haven't seen anyone else mention it yet. The 2014 version of Mind Flayer did the same thing, as did the stunned and incapacitated conditions.

I really think its always been intended to be deadly dangerous if you don't have help.

The degree to which I need to stop putting off collecting my campaign world notes into my OneNote notebook instead of over dozens of docs and spreadsheets cannot be overstated.

It's a shame that so many things become victims of their own hype or even victims of "where was the hype we expected without ever marketing it". I look forward to the experience anyways.
