Incredibly upsetting. Plenty of community input on the funding bill and we are still being served this DCL. The inclusion of “private use of the Mesa Lab” smells of special interests at play.

Definitely bringing a battery charger, water container that is collapsible, and a headlamp. I am hoping the Hilton has a generator!

My uncle lives in Houston and he was without power for 2 days in 2021…they say they are better prepared.

One issue in 2025 for meteorology is that there was hardly any funding awarded for new field work, and some projects were terminated. This will mean that 2026 is going to be very quiet for us.

The question remains about the allocation of those funds. Questions about DOE BER, NASA Earth Science and NSF GEO reorganization (NCAR!); approvals of proposals will reside at higher (political?) levels. Funding will likely get diverted to commercial and AI resources.
