Who would have ever thought that we would be pining to get Jake Allen back?

Here's a sobering stat - Habs have the 3rd fewest regulation wins in the entire conference with 5. Only Buffalo and Philly have fewer with 4. All those OT wins lulled me into thinking the Habs were better than they probably are.

Not a good period for the newly formed top line.

So often the case this season - a big save, but then shortly thereafter a puck finds its way in that you don't expect to go in. Once again, Monty (so far) is in the negative GSAE. It doesn't help that his team is not giving him any goal support whatsoever during this slump.

Coming into tonight:

Dobes
GAA: 2.25
Save %: .920
GSAE: 6.4

Monty
GAA: 3.46
Save %: .864
GSAE: -6.6

Monty's stats get worse after tonight.

Dobes is top 10 in the league. Monty is bottom 5.

These stat lines are mirror opposites.

How can you not give Dobes the majority of games going forward?

Seriously now? Joel Edmundson has the hardest shot taken so far this season? 🤯

It appears that the next generation of elite NHL scorers have arrived. 3 of the top 4 are 20 yrs old or younger.

In fact, at 5 on 5, Veleno had more ice time than Gallagher, Evans, Kapanen, Dach, Anderson, Bolduc, Dach, and Demidov.

Despite 2 consecutive OT losses, the Habs are still getting valuable points. They remain at the top of the conference - tied with NJ in both pts and winning % 👏👏👏

The Dobes wall.

Agree with @rwtrask.bsky.social on this. Certain members of the Habs bottom 6 have contributed very little offensively so far. In particular, Anderson, Evans, and Veleno only have 2G 2A between the 3 of them.

Missed the game last night (final day of my vacation). Boy, am I ever looking forward to watching the Habs again! Anyhow, it looks like they did not play well at all. What happened? At least Demidov got 1G 1A and Suzuki kept his point streak alive.

Unless Monty significantly picks up his play (and quickly), he may not even be considered for the roster. For goalies that have played at least 6 games, he's dead last in goals saved above expected per 60. Thompson definitely is the top candidate imo.
November 4, 2025 at 10:12 AM
For goalies that have played a minimum of 6 games, Dobes is #1 in the league in goals saved above expected per 60. Montembeault (who has obviously struggled) is dead last in this category.

Habs are tied with the Jets for the best winning percentage in the league. What a tremendous start to the season.

Missed the game last night, but judging by the SOG and DTW, the Habs were the better team. Stats I noticed:
- Monty was negative once again in xGA.
- Power play scored again.
- Dach line was the best in xGF at 5 on 5.

I know it's very early, but I'm still going to enjoy the standings for now. Habs are tied for 1st in the Atlantic and Leafs and Bruins are not in a wildcard spot.
October 31, 2025 at 5:45 AM
From what I read here, it sounds like both goalies played extremely well tonight. Habs played well in the 1st, but Flames had the edge in the last 2 periods - that sound about right? What did everyone think of the game?

Our Habs rookies have gotten off to a great start!
October 23, 2025 at 4:45 AM
Cole Caufield is tied for the league lead and goals and Nick Suzuki is tied for the league lead in assists. The Habs are in 1st place in the Eastern Conference. Good times, Habs Fans!
October 17, 2025 at 2:43 AM
Holy smokes, the Sens got crushed by the mighty Sabres tonight.
October 16, 2025 at 3:06 AM
Suzuki and Caufield leading the team in scoring and Suzuki leading the league in assists. And the great thing about all this is that I don't feel that the top line is even playing their best hockey yet.
