I think there is validity in arguing that there is some calousnes in games when it comes to respecting non-western spaces in context.

I get your point, but I do feel there is a distinction between playing as the "bad guy" while looting as a viking vs being a "good guy" who wouldn't just roll around in a sacred space unrelated to thier goals.
It's indifference and casualness that might sting more.
