As I was walking back, my phone buzzed.

Instead of messaging the deputy chairman directly about our meeting, he’d accidentally sent it to the local party WhatsApp group.

Before realising the mistake, the deputy had replied: “Does Aaron hate him too?”

So, I have this really deeply ingrained tension - wanting to write fiction (novels, plays, short stories) but then recoiling because it feels somehow “unserious”. Constantly go back and forth.

Anyway, just discovered it’s £70 a ticket for Arcadia at the Old Vic, so am off to write a play…

I watched this the other night for the first time.

Absolutely wonderful. Really good at showing the way corruption starts and spreads – both within organizations and in people’s souls.

Great performances all round, but I was always on the verge of crying whenever Paul Scoffield was on screen.

The villain as both a bossy twink and a predatory old queen?

Homophobic? Or queer?

You decide!

Unlikely to make my 37 / 37 – but it was nice to revisit. Maybe nearly thirty years since I last watched it.

Great concept, great score, great visuals. Kurt Russell will always be a star.

Plot holes you can drive an obelisk through, however.
