Demons take many forms but snakelike lower bodies are especially common.
A digital painting of a Black woman in a red dashiki inspired outfit, dreads and glasses races through a tunnel running from some sort of monstrous demonic creature firing bolts of magic at her from far behind. She carries a gnarled staff indicating her status as a mage and the staff is glowing with bright yellow light.

Okay Scholars, time for more #Ha-Nahn lore.

Demons in Ha-Nahn are beings left over from the early days. One of humanity's first attempts to harness the magic of creation as the Giver did went awry and that hubris birthed demons into our reality.
a digital drawing of a demonic entity with two other demons standing in shadow behind it and another's head on the upper right. The main demon is a white skinned well muscled humanoid figure with long tentacles coming off its lower body and a long eel like tail. Its head looks like a vampire squid and it has four eyes and two sets of hornlike appendages like all demons in Ha-Nahn.

Like, I knew Aabria was getting hate. I've been on the internet long enough to know that happens just from Black women existing in joy.

But man, some of these people. -_-

I decided to go ahead and get back into Critical Role and one of the things I'd forgotten was how annoying I the fanbase can sometimes be.

I think there's legit reasons to complain about lack of diversity at the table but I can also see POC just not wanting to be there cause of the fanbase!

Legitimately in a situation where I feel like since my original work isn't getting a ton of traction these days I might as well go draw fan art since I kind of skipped that phase.

When you lose yourself in a book, it’s called transportation. External stimuli fade, and the fiction carries us away.

SPINE asks: What if we cannot find our way back from the fiction? What if something insidious is happening inside us while we are distracted?

SPINE is in beta, and it will be free for a limited time on @itch.io

The beta will be released on itch on October 14th and will include digital versions as well as a printable booklet. A physical beta will go on sale at the end of October.

These are fantastic! I love the softness and the storytelling involved in these. They feel very mythic and romantic in the sense that they evoke strong emotion.

I'm Silvi and here are some of my OCs :D
Character sheet for an OC named Erebus, god of love and death in the setting.
The character has bronze skin and hair that goes through gradient of dark brown at the top to white at the tips. The character sheet includes, from the left, a view from the back with a mostly opaque robe at his waist-level held up by arms, one hand resting on a sword with a design of spine at its ricasso called Bonemarrow; A full body view of Erebus dressed in a fancy coat with a Bearded vulture at his feet with black and white feathers; A portrait surrounded by wings from the figure below the portrait. The wings are black and gray; a design for a hourglass with a snake wrapped around it.
To the right of that, two examples of possible statues to erebus - one lying down with fabric draped over his legs, the other one standing with a sword in hand and in full armor with a long cloak. both statues have one arm in the air, holding up an hourglass.
To the right of that, pose of Erebus with arms up, torso stretched upwards as he looks up as well. There is fabric around his waist. Anthro deer reference with various outfits, design for hands having hoof fingers and little items she wears. Character sheet for an elf by the name Istvan sun Leishian, including his armor, diplomat clothes, his work clothes for carpentry, his favorite bow, cane and the jewelry he enjoys to wear. The reference also shows his two snake tattoos spanning his right arm and left leg. A demoness character sheet, with golden horns and tail, additional outfits and two rabbit companions: Honeybun and Butterscotch.

You really do have a way with violets. I agree with others that the mask is great and the first one is so delightfully unsettling.

Thanks for hosting! I'm Aaron and I'm a fantasy illustrator focused on non-Eurocentric stories. I'm making my own worlds and sometimes just painting unrelated things for fun.
A digital illustration of a massive divine dragon with purple and gold coloration. The massive beast flies over a mountain city with floating islands all around. As it turns in the sky its wings trail through clouds. The creature has a thick almost gorilla like body and stripes like a tiger but made of something like gold that seems to flow beneath its skin. An image of a giant seen from the waist up. He’s holding a spear and illuminated by a harsh desert sun. A rocky outcropping with memorial stones placed into them surrounds a small figure in the foreground that shields his eyes from the radiance. The image is done in yellows, oranges and browns. A digital painting of a pale redheaded woman in robes with a blue outer shall, a white inner robe and a red high necked body suit stands in a study with three glowing panels of energy before her. She looks to her left over her shoulder at one of them, her finger is pointed at another in front of her and her other hand taps easily at a third. The background is dark to separate her out from the rest of the image and make her clear. Her hair moves slightly as though she's just turned her head or there's an unseen wind blowing it. A merman with medium brown skin rests on a rock in the ocean as if it were a bench or a chair. Shafts of spears are embedded in his shoulders and his body has slashes and bruises from battle. He’s well muscled and his own spear appears broken in places. His long snake like tail rests in the water and he grins slightly looking at the camera as if thinking, “you should see the other guy.”

I adore the stylization here. Fantastic color work as well. Seriously! I love the lighting on the first one? Is it supposed to be anyone specific? I keep wanting to say Nefirtiri.

I've gotten art gigs through social media, the biggest art event and learning opportunity I've ever received was because of social media and I am DMing regularly (and even as part of my day job) in part because of social media and Critical Role. So yes.

Has anything great happened in your life because of social media?
aaronradney.bsky.social
I've been meaning to and want to do more of that sort of art. So far I've only really got one.

Share your couples art
Two men, one a noble, the other his consort/boyfriend and bodyguard stand together in an alcove in a palace as a party moves around them. They look at each other lovingly even as the bodyguard is clearly tense and keeping his hand on his weapons. The noble rests his hand on the other man's shoulder lovingly as if telling him it's okay to relax.

But sometimes even knowing the lesson and intent of a story, what it wants to teach you isn't enough. You have to actually live it for the power to work.

Magic in #Ha-Nahn is powerful... but it is not easy.
aaronradney.bsky.social
In #Ha-Nahn magic is powered by and enacted through story. But the story alone is not enough. Magic requires a few components. A tale must have been retold enough and have a potent lesson to be used. A mage must understand that lesson. And then they must will that lesson into reality in the world.
An image of a Black non-binary person in a rainforest environment. They are a mage and the painting is done primarily in a green pallet. They’re channeling nature magic into a protective cloak that trails away from her shoulders and arcs gracefully across the page. They look over their shoulder at it serenely and is seen from a slightly raised angle. Small calligraphic symbols can be seen throughout the image.

Ifanya focused on the story and its imagery. Mages did not cast spells for battle. Not really. And certainly not in times like these.

But something told her all of that might change.

So as a mage from a family of warriors she did the only thing she could think of.

She trained.
An image done in pinks, oranges and reds of a mage casting a powerful fire spell. Three whips of fire extend from their outstretched hand in the far background spiraling out in curving lines and transforming into different African animals: an antelope, a wildebeest and a buffalo. The creatures rush forward across a savannah landscape as though charging the viewer. They are clearly made of fire but do not burn the grass.
aaronradney.bsky.social
“Are you sure we’re going the right way,” Ifanya asked

"Don’t you trust me?” Her companion, Amudan said with a joking lilt to his voice.

“I know you too well for that, Magechief,” she snarked back sounding very much like one of his actual older sisters.
Two figures stand on a rise overlooking a dense forest at sunset. The world is rendered in luscious oranges, pinks, reds and gold. The two figures, silhouetted in the foreground look into the distance where a large temple complex rises out of the forest canopy. They clearly have a distance to go but the destination is in sight.

Because it feels relevant as we continue to evaluate the media and our representatives’ statements, my favorite way to identify the active vs. passive voice.
A post by Rebecca Johnson:
“I finally learned how to teach my guys to ID the passive voice. If you can insert "by zombies" after the verb, you have passive voice.”

A tumblr respond from mightymur:
“The final, brilliant word on passive voice.
"She was killed [by zombies.]"<--passive
"Zombies killed [by zombies] her." <-- active”

Actually, what I would love for me birthday is if you all shared your favorite art of your OC's, and tell me about them. Let's start an OC Share.
