My first year I got zero a-has and had an amazing time. My second year I got zero a-has and had an amazing time. I didn't start getting solo solves on puzzles until my fourth year hunting!

To get a more insider view, I recommend joining a team! We're all extremely friendly and many teams welcome remote solvers. ;-)

It's not a follow-along kind of thing because it runs the entire weekend and people take it super seriously, but there will be a bunch of retrospective blogs. People will vaguepost about it on social media; there's an MIT Mystery Hunt feed, and there's a subreddit.

Judaism has to fall off the path (derekh), which is pretty close and might potentially suit. I've seen "to turn away from the light" used in the context of some other MENA historical religions but I can't attest to the historicity of it.
