Federal prosecutors charged her with perjury in 2020 for lying during a 2016 civil deposition. It’s hard to imagine any Americans taking her words at face value, aside from those who are in the files.

on merit, not favoritism or retaliation. Without independent review, employees who speak up about problems, report waste or misconduct, or simply fall out of favor could have far fewer options to defend themselves. That weakens accountability and makes the entire federal workforce more vulnerable.
