I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

🧶 How to knit knots
This is how to make a small bobble - or knot
I prefer to knit backwards rather than turn my knitting for knots and bobbles, but if you prefer you can do it the traditional way: kfb, turn, p2, turn, k2tog.

Woke up at 5am thinking THERE ARE MANY REASONS WHITE PEOPLE FOOD FOOD IS BAD (corporate foods replacing local cooking, food divorced from the growing process, convenience foods with chemicals that are bad for people, IBS food triggers = whiteness) AND THAT GASTRONAUTS EPISODE IGNORED ALL OF THEM

season’s resolution: i have got to stop buying crochet patterns from young influencers because I’m insomnia scrolling crafting insta. I have been crocheting since 1998, I do not need a 36pg pattern that doesn’t have charts 🧶

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

ACOG reaffirms that acetaminophen is safe for managing pain and fever during pregnancy. No reputable studies support suggestions like those in HHS’s recent announcement linking acetaminophen use in pregnancy to autism; in fact, high-quality studies show no such risk. https://bit.ly/47Wxc59

re: the tylenol thing, i think we're gonna reach an inflection point soon where corporate america has to decide whether or not the current admin's conspiracy brain decision-making is dangerous enough to its bottom line to undermine it, or if kleptocracy will really pay them more

I normally take ibuprofen for my assorted pains but now that I know tylenol is good for autism I may need to switch.

imagine relying on AI to write your bio and then having the nerve to say you're witty and full of personality
Anderson felt her bio was authentically her even if it was written by a chatbot. “My bio is 100 percent in alignment with my true personality,” she told me. “I don’t have a filter. I’m very witty. I’m full of personality.” Nor did she think using ChatGPT reflected the “bare minimum energy” she loathed. “It took me an hour and change to drill down my bio to be that good,” she explained. “I had to edit it, edit it, edit it down. I have to keep talking to it.” On the other hand, she admits that ChatGPT has sapped her motivation to write a first draft of anything herself, even though she minored in writing in college and described herself as a “wordsmith.” “I’m gonna be honest with you: Once you use ChatGPT, you don’t want to think for yourself anymore,” she said.

Happy 71st Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools.

She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama.

The past isn’t past.
Ruby Bridges, age 6 Ruby Bridges flanked by three U.S. Marshals on the steps of her school Norman Rockwell's painting "The Problem We All Live With," depicting the event originally published as a centerfold in the January 14, 1964, issue of Look magazine. Ruby Bridge talking to President Obama as they look at Rockwell's painting when it was temporarily displayed at the White House in 2011.

I think, every so often, about how the student protesters in South Korea figured out there was a finite supply of tear gas, and then staged retreating marches that caused police to burn off most of it, before the big "bring your auntie and kids" marches that ultimately toppled the dictatorship.
