Finally got my hands on how metatiles work in #tinytoons : this gives me possibility to rearrange the tiles on screen, as well as use extratiles stored in VRAM1 for #gameboycolor. Still limited by palettes, but bushes & background that were previously using dithering will benefit of it! Look 😍

Using metatiles feels like going from #Sega #Genesis (sorry Sega fans, I'm just talking about colors) to #Nintendo #Supernes : no need to rely on dithering so much, and the game looks so much more colorful! #Tinytoons #gameboycolor

That Furrball bonus game was A PAIN... From using alternative tiles to putting the room into dark. And don't get me started on that garbage lid sharing its attributes with the sprite 😅 I'm afraid his "helping sequence" is gonna be hard too, since it most probably got affected by the work I did here

Had to thicken the outlines, so I wouldn't have more than 4 colors in a specific tile, and could therefore use combination of 2 palettes to bring pink to the ears. Blue & white option felt too monochromatic to me. But once again, I had to sacrifice the shades. Still happy with the result. #tinytoon

It's another morning on Acme Acres : this time I didn't have a proper scene from the TV show to get my inspiration, but I think brightening the borders and using darker colors on the windows for the train make the illusion of sunrise a bit more convincing. #tinytoons #gameboy
