I’m building a starter pack of muralists! Currently have 30+ but would love to add more to get this community connected.

It’s amazing how intimate drawing or painting something can be—somewhere between a quiet scientific discovery and meeting a new friend.

I’m learning so much, even just in little corners of this painting, staring at references until structure and pattern come alive.

Throwback to finishing the biggest public mural of my career. Here’s hoping for more opportunities like this in 2025. ☺️

People say “paint what you know”: I know this. I know who lives in my woods, who leaves when the snow flies, who is seeking serviceberries or snatching spiders from their webs, who sings and who soars. I know in my gut the urgency our changing climate poses.

In the last week, I drywalled our 5’x5’ sump pump “room” with my partner and then painted a whimsical little freehand mural to make the formerly dingy space with its uncovered fiberglass insulation into a welcoming little storage space for my mural supplies!

Some of my favorite projects are murals for local businesses, like this one for a salon in Broad Ripple, IN. Unique, publicly accessible art not only makes those businesses more memorable and beautiful, but enhances their communities with placemaking.

I painted this mural for an ophthalmologist to celebrate their work (without painting literal Great Gatsby giant eyes to stare at the neighbors). This design highlighted “eyespots” found in nature and used mandala-inspired concentric patterns to evoke the beauty of the human iris. #sciart #mural

“Wings From a Spicebush” 2024.
Acrylic & gold leaf on wood.

This little painting celebrates the relationship between the spicebush swallowtail and their host plant, the spicebush.

In the first year after planting in my shady backyard, I had caterpillars and eggs on my plants!

Plant native! 💚

This mural is my first to be painted over. While sad to see it go, and sadder still the NA bar there didn’t make it, I got to meet the new owners before it was covered. It was really nice to let it go with love & wish them well on their new tea room. They even let me come in & take a few pics!

The news has felt so bleak, so today I am focusing on feeling grateful for all the people who have given me the opportunity to put beauty into the world with my mural art. I’m grateful to all the wonderful humans who have entrusted me to paint their dreams. These peonies bloom year-round in Indy.
