Honest question. Why is it dumb to be suspicious of people who seek out positions of power?

They wouldn’t do anything that looks like corporate service, especially not that requires any amount of personal sacrifice.

So they assume that anyone who does what they wouldn’t has a sinister ulterior motive.

My guess is that it reveals that they are highly transactional and distrust anyone who is doing anything that looks like personal sacrifice.

I experienced this when I ran a non-profit. There were certain folks who would try to “figure out my angle.”
