Managing #multimorbidity (two or more chronic health conditions) is one of the biggest challenges in healthcare today. It affects daily life, mental wellbeing, and overall functioning.

We have some good news www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Getting ready for #ECSS

I’ll be talking about exercise for people with multiple chronic conditions and its impact on inflammation, lipids, blood pressure, triglycerides, and cholesterol.

From a secondary analysis of the #MOBILIZE trial.

8/10 The takeaway:

While more research is needed to understand the full impact, this study gives hope that tailored exercise therapy and self-management programs can improve life for those living with multimorbidity. #MOBILIZEtrial #multimrobidity

7/10 So what does this mean?

A personalized mix of exercise therapy and self-management support might help people with multiple chronic conditions feel better—without adding risk.
abricca.bsky.social
6/10 Importantly, there were no major safety concerns. Both groups had similar numbers of serious health events—so the program didn’t increase risk. ✅
abricca.bsky.social
5/10 📈 The results?

People in the program group had a statistically significant improvement in HRQoL of life compared to the usual care group.

They also rated their own health more positively. Other outcomes like physical function and mental health were similar across groups.
abricca.bsky.social
4/10 Participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups:

🔹 Usual care alone
🔹 Usual care + 12-week program of personalized exercise and support for managing health.

The development of the 12-week program can be found here.

3/10 We asked: Could exercise therapy and self-management support improve life for people with multimorbidity, beyond what usual care alone offers?
abricca.bsky.social
2/10 Managing multimorbidity—when someone has two or more long-term health conditions—is tough.

It affects daily life, mental health, and overall wellbeing. But proven treatments to improve quality of life are still lacking.
