Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat. If you need to mix in a primal scream from time to time, that’s okay too. Seems fitting.

I grew up in the western foothills/southern piedmont of NC. As soon as I saw the news of Helene, I knew the devastation in these small towns just to our north was inevitable. This is the one of the best pieces of journalism I have read in recent memory. incredible, heartbreaking stories. read this.

As Hurricane Helene barreled toward Yancey County in North Carolina, the predictions were grim.

But there were no evacuation orders, even for the people living in homes along vulnerable rivers and creeks.

Few grasped what was coming. @jenniferberryhawes.bsky.social w/ @cgaribay.bsky.social

I am so fortunate to be supported by the incredible Foundation of Hope in North Carolina. FOH pledged to raise 5 Million dollars in 5 years to support the Child and Adolescent Anxiety and Mood Disorders Program in UNC Psychiatry. It only took 2.5 years: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_T9...

EMA research friends, I recall seeing some #discourse on here about slidey bars for response options resulting in more variability for frequency items in daily surveys. Did I dream this in my head? Can someone send link if I didn’t imagine this?

it's particularly cruel to be cancelling training series grants from NIH. Those training years were some of my most uncertain, and the training grants (F, K series) provided stable funding at the time. We will be losing tremendous scholars because of this.

Conversion therapy is ineffective, dangerous, and linked with suicide attempts. Don’t ever let them tell you otherwise.

Appreciate it, Pete! excited for our current studies that are expanding this even more. Parents are pretty desperate for information about this topic, we're finding.

Our new paper examines whether asking children as young as 5 about suicide is safe, feasible, and acceptable—an early step in our groups broader effort to build a full developmental model of youth suicide risk. Stay tuned for more from our group. Read more: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

We just launched a 16TB archive of every dataset that has been available on data.gov since November. This will be updated day by day as new datasets appear. It can be freely copied, and we're sharing the code behind it to help others make their own archives of data they depend on.

I grew up in rural North Carolina and am a first generation college student. I attended UNC Chapel Hill as an undergraduate, and I just received my letter confirming my tenure at UNC. Surreal is putting it mildly. I am honored and humbled and determined to be a good steward of science.
