This is me, during the height of COVID, having just become a US citizen. Happiness and relief at finally getting there, doesn’t describe the wash of emotions I was feeling. I was so proud to be an American and so excited that after years of volunteering with the Democrats I could now finally vote

Been watching YouTube videos this morning to get ideas for ornaments I can knit or crochet as I’m mainly starting afresh after divorce and I found this - it starts with cute calming music and pics of things to make, and then this happens. I think I only have 7 days to live now

One last thing, and I think this is my point, Atwood resisted her novels been called feminist originally because she thought it oversimplified the themes and that “feminist” didn’t capture the full complexity of women. Bonus: here’s the covers of THT when I read it & now… it tells a story

No idea where I’m going with this, I’m rambling. Anyway, the university had 4 computers and I was determined not to be left behind, so I checked out library books and taught myself BASIC on the computers that had no hard memory, so you had to start them up with 2 floppy discs (the real floppy ones)

(Saying this gently, so as not to upset 1989 fans) Those aren’t seagulls, they’re swifts. Seagulls have their tails squared off, the v pointed tails of these birds mean they’re swifts. The shape of the wings curving like that in flight also means we can confirm they are swifts not swallows.

I was thinking about this because it’s the James Bond set in Vegas and there are showgirls a-plenty (iykyk). It’s my dirty secret because I know how “of its time” it is (sexist) but I watched it so many times with my family - “I don’t dress for the hired help” reminds me of something…
