Nolan does seem like a weird guy so maybe he was out of touch like that, but then why were audiences into it? Only thing I can think of is anxiety about the "war on terror", but terrorism is only one of several themes in the trilogy. Doesn't explain why the other themes were also well received. Idk.

It was especially weird because the timing. Why Nolan felt the need to put out a film with a strong antirevolutionary message in 2012 is beyond me. It's not like that year was some big revolutionary moment. Like was he that afraid of the Occupy movement? Why? It was nonviolent, not insurrectionary.

I'm not usually a film contrarian, but I fucking hated these films. Pretentious, drag on, & their political message is extremely conservative. The last film is nakedly right wing propaganda. I was so confused watching them when they were coming out, seeing everyone praising these films & Nolan.

It really is. Most days I actually feel worse after sleeping than before. The lack of control is almost worse than the stress itself. Can't stop my brain ruminating on anxieties/intrusive thoughts/bad memories if I'm not conscious.

Feel like this is a symptom of depression that doesn't get discussed enough. Whenever sleep is mentioned, like on a PHQ9, it's always about whether you're sleeping too much or not enough. No therapist has ever asked me directly about sleep quality until I mention it myself.

Keeps refugees at the mercy of, effectively, charity; costs the state in expenses & policing it; seems needless red tape to normal people; & fuels far right grievances about "migrants" (refugees) living off the taxpayer rather than working for a living. Who does this pointless policy exist please?

This is something I've never understood. What exactly would be the problem with letting refugees get legal employment? That they might want to stay here after getting a livelihood & integrating into local communities? As opposed to going back to the dangers that displaced them? Is that bad?

Oh yeah I periodically make a batch of them. I sometimes get quartz/amethyst crystals from a shop down the street, dried plants from my yard, cut little butterflies out of books... It's fun but fiddly!

The story is beautiful but the viral images/video of this same lion were previously circulating in posts saying this was a mistreated lion that was rescued from capacity. The channel which seems to be the original source doesn't mention either story and calls this lion "Simba" not "Neo". ⏩
