My name is Annette Bourbonniere and I am - among other things - an accessibility & inclusion advocate for persons with disabilities. My podcast name is Nothing Without Us, Stories and Discussions of Meaningful Inclusion.
While I strongly advocate against ableism, I don't consider my disability the same as being sick. So, maybe what he said wasn't that bad. I do believe he should ensure Alt text availability for all social media posts.

LOL. Sometimes those of us who are a little ahem,,, older forget that our youth do not have the same cultural references. Spending some time working at a university taught me that. It does give our younger people a chance to poke fun at us.😂

Of course, if the Republican Party is concerned, they should put up the best candidates for election. Isn't that the American way? They are looking for an edge to cheat others. Not a good move.

Because some students cheat (and using AI inappropriately is cheating), students with disabilities will be punished? It is not okay to paint everyone with the same brush. Until we have the best guardrails, we have to be vigilant and let those who cheat know there will be zero tolerance.

The person with the disability should have requested the appropriate accommodations. If she requested them and the employer did not provide them, the fault is theirs. It seems that there is a lot missing from the article. Let's give the judge a little credit for going deeper than the article.

Disability activism is a GOOD thing. It's inclusive. It reduces barriers. Rubio long ago fell off my list of respected people even if I didn't agree with them, and now heads a very long list of people I can never respect ever again.

If students still need accommodations, tell them to email you to set up a time to meet privately. This is what I do. Time for quizzes and recorded lectures are inclusive and cover the majority of accommodation needs.

It shouldn't even be a problem at all. If you want your students to learn, make the course inclusive. Record your lectures. Give 2-3 days to take short quizzes online. Once you do things like this, there will be little need to add accommodations.

That's for sure. They need to understand the emotional toll. When students are struggling to keep up, adding the burden of always asking, and then appealing, is exhausting.
