Well, they shot the episodes on film, as was standard for prime time programming in the USA at the time. But yes, they could easily have disappeared.

I read a couple of the columns he wrote several years ago when he was a high school dropout going by the name "Richard Hoste." Absolutely dumpster-grade racist garbage, no sign of talent whatsoever. Now he's a PhD using his real name, and he produces... noticeably more polished racist garbage.

Cesar Romero is the only actor ever to commit to the role of The Joker. None of those other guys even grew a mustache, let alone dyed it white.

To make the self-defense case, you have to get 12 jurors to say they believe that shooting the driver makes a car stop. There are counties in Minnesota that voted for Trump by 50%, but they are rural areas where people can't afford to identify themselves with ignorance about how vehicles work.

I think of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason as relating to each other less like the legs of a stool or the wheels of a tricycle than like the parts of an accordion. You alternately open up and collapse the spaces that distinguish one from another, but they always operate together in those spaces.

OSU's philosophy department is world-class, if you can make it through that in two years with honors you're very smart in an academic sense. But he is very naive, as you would expect from someone whose only job since leaving school was as a court eunuch to a billionaire.

Oh too bad, they seem so nice.

They are pretty great. I would also put in a word for MADADAYO, it isn't as funny as those movies or as appealing to the very young as are any of the ones with samurais, but no one who has seen it will ever forget it.

A while ago I noticed a classicist online making a reference to the Attic orators. In the responses, it became clear that the phrase "Attic orators" is a lot harder to explain to people who don't know what Attica is or which of its orators were most famous than you might think.

At our Thanksgiving Day gathering, I heard someone say that he wanted to drink a "Dr Pibb." Ever since, I've been wondering when Mr Pibb went back to school.

That was the first movie that came to my mind- the lighting is unmistakably 80s, but the tone and storyline are pure 90s.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard the theme to LOST IN SPACE and tried to watch the show, unable to believe that anything that opens with such a rousing bit of music can actually be that bad.

He probably has enough sense of history to remember what happened to the last guy who won the mayor's office with over a million votes.

A boy is formally given his name in the course of his Brit Milah, so separating the feasts would risk denying Jesus' Jewishness.

When I was in third grade, one of my classmates couldn't stop talking about his favorite toy, a Ouija board. He recently reconnected with me online. Turns out he's now a colonel in the Air Force, in charge of polygraph testing for the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Service.

Changing your name never gets you free of a really determined stalker. I'm sure the day came when Jasper Carrott heard a knock on the door and an all-too-familiar voice cried "Come out and face me, you wascal!"
