Today, at the Conference on 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴, we heard the same blame-game song lines we have been hearing since the 70ies.

This proposal sets a dangerous precedent. If we cull species we perceive as competition, who’s next? Seals? Otters? Herons?

Let’s fix our broken ecosystems instead of scapegoating wildlife.
We need restoration, not extermination.

Cormorants are a protected species under the EU Birds Directive.

👉 The new plan blames Cormorants for fish stock declines, but science shows that overfishing, pollution, habitat destruction & river barriers are at fault. Not birds doing what they’ve always done: eat fish.
