Have been using this ancient (100 years plus) skillet from the Ottoman era (gift from a very dear friend) for frying and I don’t think I can look back now.

Fooling around with some very old bayou recipes. Oyster gumbo. In place of roux, garden okra slow cooked 7 hours. Not terrible at all.

Made my grandmother’s Portuguese caldo verde tonight, because immigration is great and immigrants bring blessings and contributions to this country that dwarf our collective imagination.

First Suyo Long cukes coming in. Did the standard thing with chili crisp, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, soy, Thai mint, Vietnamese coriander, and scallions. NBD, didn’t suck.
