Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.

The lettuce seedlings were dead when purchased. Either herbicide overspray, fertiliser burning, poor watering, cold shock or dropping. They were dead before I planted them. And so,of course, I have chucked out the receipt.

All of my new season lettuce seedlings promptly died. Every, single, one. Rocket, basil, spring onions, are wildly healthy. Just lettuces. Three separate containers, with other plants doing well. This is an example of the mystery of gardening.

Pretty wild story. I hope those involved are able to continue their research into how the stone ended up in a New Orleans backyard.

It could provide a very good case study of just how dispersed collections can become in the wake of conflict. 🏺
