Put on some nice clothes but then looked out the window and immediately felt like a man of slovenly appearance.

A male mandarin duck on the balcony outside my old kitchen, sizing up the women in the river below.

That's not true. When I lived in that house there were always about five male mandarin ducks competing for one female.

These - and the mergansers at the same place - muscled their way into my novel Villager, which I wrote most of while renting this house.

My son disco napping on his show cow, which was also disco napping. It’s not just confined to Highlanders (that one was an Angus/Shorthorn mix, even though it looked like a Holstein).

This week I filed my claim for compensation from the company Anthropic AI, who have illegally used pirated online copies of two of my books to train artificial intelligence. A past version of myself would maybe find it quite exciting if I told him he would be involved in a worldwide battle against robots. But probably less so when he found out the robots are invisible, tedious twats.
