First order of business: Deep dish pizzas and deep conversation.

Peaceful sit down with local leaders, community members and enjoy a deep dish together.

Rediscover we all want similar things out of life and can always find joy and strength in that.

I'm sure some of them are very fine people, but I don't think Texas is sending its best to Illinois.

Yes. We’ve come a long way technologically but have gone practically nowhere with quality of our leadership.

In the Reagan era those solar panels would’ve been novel but practically experimental – extremely inefficient and 10X costlier than today’s tech.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
I mean the rational market not that irrational market lol

The AI boom depends on artificially low energy costs (similar to BTC) and is on a hype cycle. Solar / wind economics are ironclad (0 variable fuel costs, stable O&M, lots of financing etc) and we were making huge gains on storage
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
We were on track for such a boom in the US.

It’ll come roaring back when market forces intervene but talk about self sabotage. Killing IRA and making pretend investments in unprofitable coal will only drive electricity costs up in the meantime.

I’m sure it will run just fine as a web app and be more accessible than the rigged App Store but still a cowardly and obnoxious move.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
None of what she is talking about is a crisis solved with brutality.

We are all Americans. Neighbors. Friends. People. We all get sick and need healthcare.

For a fraction of what they are spending on detention and persecution we could make healthcare access more affordable and open for all.

Thank you for getting the truth out. Stay safe.

And as a sustainability guy and home cook I give this planetary health diet idea 10/10 definitely would eat it all…

Adam Freedgood in his kitchen more than kinda looks like Chef Reactions hilarious chef guy and fully gives thumbs up to the idea of a planetary health diet — a conceptual framework for eating healthy and in a way that ensures there are many good meals and tasty resources for future generations to enjoy!

Wait ‘til Musk and his pitchfork posse see Nimona. 🤣

Have to get this out there as a dad and human: for all the xenophobic, transphobic, ‘cis or else’ garbage that streams to our kids it is an absolute treasure when a storyline is brave, real, or compassionate.

Not funny for families but…if we only buy a few cabinet doors at a time… it could work.
AI (Gemini) generated parody cartoon of made in America cabinets missing doors and dumping dishes everywhere because they’re more expensive and people can’t afford proper parts or installation.

Morristown NJ — Super fit, well-groomed troops confuse front yards for front lines and deploy to another American city badly in need of militarized law and order. Kids cheer the spectacle unaware of what they’ve lost.

Parody cartoon of troops deployed to the “front lines” of an American city. Kids play in sprinklers and ride by on school buses as troops fall over each other and wield weapons and parachute from the sky.

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you…

Uniformed troops from the War Department sculpted by “hard PT” and well-groomed beardless faces train vigorously on the “front yards” of America’s blighted cities as kids cheer the spectacle and wait for a handful of candy from the soldiers.
A parody cartoon showing uniformed soldiers in disarrayed training in the front yards of a neighborhood while kids play nearby and school buses roll down the street. AI Generated (Google Gemini).

Now, try pricing in 10% or 20% annual electricity price increases (which solar would hedge). Even for a couple years in a row, it totally changes the game on solar ROI.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
Whether it’s a small household solar power system or a utility scale system, financial projections take into account modest escalation in utility prices to calculate $ payback to the owner. Relatively stable and low electricity prices in the US used to make solar a 5 to 8 year payback scenario.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
The higher electricity prices go, the stronger the return-on-investment from solar, wind and storage. 🧐

These sources are decentralized (secure), zero fuel cost, low O&M.

I don’t support families or businesses paying more for energy but this is where misguided US energy policy is taking us.
The author’s 12 panel ground mounted solar array in northeast Pennsylvania. Tied to a battery storage system this allows the home to endure frequent rural outages from storms and downed trees which happen more than a dozen times per year sometimes for days on end. The solar and storage solution also returns a higher and higher ROI (return on investment) as electricity prices rise.

You are absolutely right. The Germans have a saying, “Resist the beginnings,” precisely so we don’t have to say “Never forget.”

Because today’s “speeches” were like slowly letting the air squeal out of a moist balloon over the course of many hours…here’s a better one for the ages.

They’re fighting a war on intelligence. Among the vile messages they shared today, this one is dumb and dangerous. Prior leaders invested in making fossil fuels less costly for human lives. From risky fuel supply chains to geopolitical conflict that always comes back to energy and climate.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
But even “much worse” looks like an upward correction toward the global mean. There will be blame, then pain, and eventually retrenchment back to an all-of-the-above energy policy and re-branded subsidies.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
We expect it to get much worse due to dumb energy policy essentially curtailing our fastest and cheapest way to get more capacity on the grid.
adamfreedgood.bsky.social
As the article says lower income households in colder climates and rural areas are hit especially hard by sudden increases. On top of rising rent and groceries any wiggle room in budgets has disappeared. Healthcare and food access cuts are underway too.
