So I think this answers Mark’s original question. To change this would mean changing the DPVA rules.

I’ll let this conversation rest and defer to anyone else who wants to explain the process of changing any of the DPVA rules. Not my forte.

Thanks for the info. To clarify: The firehouse primary is a caucus then? After learning and experiencing (read: enduring) the wonder that is the walking sub-caucus process in Minnesota, I kind of like how ALX does it.

A party run/administered primary (I think that’s what you meant Joe?) is an important distinction. For better or worse, our government allows parties to set rules for their selection of candidates.

Well, yeah. And to be clear, I'm agnostic about it. I haven't really looked into the history of the oath's use other than Kucinich and Willie Nelson challenging it in TX in 2008.
