I'm in Canada where apparently only 6% of the population has A- in total, and presumably a much smaller number of donors
adammbishop.bsky.social
Apparently I actually have A negative??! All this time I thought I had the universal blood type! Oh well, this is still helpful...

Got that sweet sweet O neg

We're editing a letter for the kids in my wife's class to bring home and it said "we ask that it is...", so naturally I said this is one of the rare instances where we need to use the subjunctive "be"

...they don't know what I'm talking about. But I know they've seen it before! It's not dead yet!

holy shit Macho Man Trey Yesavage

I'm a Leafs fan, but I did draft Ivan Demidov
adammbishop.bsky.social
Once again it's the most exciting day of the year, fantasy hockey draft day!

Unfortunately not enough of last year's team wanted to play again so I had to join some random team

I got several more Chuck III coins. I'm not sure why I find this so fascinating (a weird old tradition...but different??)

I have a George V penny somewhere too

Finished the Beatles For Sale puzzle I got for my birthday. 1000 pieces, most of which seemed to be the white/yellowish background or the black coat pieces or their hair. The faces were a bit easier. Some pieces are only microscopically different so I put a bunch of them in the wrong spot at first

But it's a good opportunity to model normal adult behaviour for her by engaging in inane banter with the crossing guard. It's helpful to practise that sort of thing. I hate it too but neurotypical people might get offended if you don't do it! "Why?" she wonders. "I don't know bud, they're weird"
adammbishop.bsky.social
My daughter can walk to school and back home by herself, but she usually still wants me to come with her. I think it's mostly because there's an extremely chatty crossing guard along the way. It's too early in the morning to be that chatty! It's too much for any time of day!
adammbishop.bsky.social
We had that too but people actually brought their pets inside. I didn't see it but supposedly someone brought a horse to be blessed

"Yarr...I don't know what I'm doing" whenever I don't know what I'm doing which is surprisingly often

what's the stupidest/randomest Simpsons quote that lives in your head rent free? Mine is the urge to say "you said go to bread" every time I am about to head to bed.

Eventually someone would have to step in and get things back on track, like this guy does. Did the humans teach the AI to talk like that, or did the AI teach the humans?

Now I'm wondering if some of the other human workers were actually AI
adammbishop.bsky.social
This is exactly the way real humans talked to each other at the AI company I briefly worked for

But on a day that is hyped up as being a time for listening and reflection, it's actually all about appearance (gotta wear your orange shirt!), and today everyone will stop thinking about it for another 364 days. It's a good start and better than nothing, but what are we doing really?
adammbishop.bsky.social
It reminded me of hearing the native land acknowledgement at a Maple Leafs game, immediately followed by a Military Appreciation ceremony, and no one thinks twice about it. This is really the definition of Canada to me. We love to think we've done something good and pat ourselves on the back for it
adammbishop.bsky.social
Not to disparage Bryan Adams specifically...it's just funny that he's the most English settler person imaginable. His parents are literally from England!

I'm also sure no human decision making process was involved in this, since this station probably only has robot DJs now

Canadian radio on September 30: Today is a day to amplify and listen to Indigenous voices *plays Summer of 69*

Also an early appearance by Armin Shimmerman! He's the face in the box

He was already a Ferengi a few episodes before this though

How about those Blue Jays!!

I could never block Alejandro Kirk, a god among men

Or what if I want to read about Alejandro Kirk? Can't block that either
