yeah what made hades feel like magic was how tightly integrated the story and the gameplay mechanics were, so that's a really good point on your part.

oh yeah gameplay wise it's aces, no complaints there. i'm just so viscerally offput by being pandered to that i bounced off it, largely because of how hard it is to Just Ignore The Story in those games for me lol

if there's one thing i hate, it's being pandered to. if there's another thing i hate, it's homosexuality being used as a marketing angle. the bisexual undertones of hades 1 felt natural - everyone in hell horny and hot, makes sense. in the sequel it just feels like cheap bait.

good writeup. you would think "hades, but for lesbians" would be a slam dunk for someone like me, but yeah, the writing in it falls so so so flat that it, at times, felt like the implied yuri was there as a smokescreen trying to prevent me from seeing that the story was half baked
