Easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Tonight was my 3rd live show of My Morning Jacket. Jim James, Patrick Hallahan (also did an awesome one-off album with other artists called Spanish Gold), & rest of the band were phenomenal. The technicals & sound engineering were peak. Love & hope.

Yep this will be my challenge since I've only had succulents and a pothos so far. It's also in a spot that won't get as much sunlight as the garden center I bought it from.

Here's the new addition to my plant stand by my window: a small African Violet from Nall's Produce! I needed a pop of color in the room. I'll try repotting into a bigger pot soon.

HUGE variety of pumpkins, gourds, and other plants at Nall's Produce in Springfield. I bought a bunch of ornamental gourds for a windowsill decoration and an African Violet for my plant stand.

The Columbia Pike bike boulevards are meh. The County proposed a plan to improve them which falls short - it would leave the boulevards with too many cars to be safe for bikes & still wouldn't connect people biking to the Pike.

For a variety of reasons, good and bad, Columbia Pike is being completely rebuilt without any dedicated bike facilities. Instead, parallel routes are supposed to exist for bikes just north and just south of the Pike, the Columbia Pike Bike Boulevards. These routes have never been safe, comfortable, and connected, but the County was supposed to be unveiling a plan to change all of that. Sadly, the proposed concept plans unveiled at the September Open House are woefully insufficient.

I may be biased, but D.C. is my pick for #4.
⚠️ Spoiler: our embattled city does come out as #5 on Ray's list, so if this was expanded to a "Top 5" list of major cities there should be consensus about being included. I do like the number 5 for everything, anyway.

A setback for more environmentally-friendly high-rise mass timber construction in the US. Especially for housing. Tariffs and inflation are the claimed source of problems, but others have pointed out mismanagement and contractor issues for the Milwaukee project, too.

#columbiapike businesses are really struggling - the construction is creating huge challenges - consider focusing your eat out/take out/grab a coffee/ get lunch/ get a pie/ play pinball energy on #columbiapike businesses. If you want places to stay it really is time to support.

Get it done now, folks! I just voted early for Virginia Gov, Lt Gov, AG, Delegate, School Board, and Arlington County Board, which I continue to love #RankedChoiceVoting for. Early voting available at the county's Ellen M. Bozman Government Center from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

Getting some ice cream at Jeni's in Shirlington to benefit EcoAction Arlington. The proceeds go to the local charity through 6pm, so only one hour left to treat yourself for a good cause!

rewatching NETWORK for a project 👀 and it is absolutely shocking how prescient this film is. it’s like paddy chayefsky was granted a vision of america in 2025 and he furiously tried to turn what he saw into something intelligible to viewers in the 1970s

Car-centric design hurts people in small towns just like in big cities.

I saw this old lady cross this busy road on her walker because the direct trip (nursing home to Tim Horton’s) was 100 metres, versus 1 kilometre to walk up the road, cross at a light, and come back.
