Computational biology and biochemistry are two sides of the same catalytic cycle. One defines the system, the other accelerates discovery. Prediction guides experiment, experiment refines prediction. Good science couples mechanisms, not sides.

The four horsemen of computational biology always show up right before submission.

Horseman 1: It works on my machine
Horseman 2: The perfect model
Horseman 3: The database oracle
Horseman 4: The final figure

If you have met all four, congratulations. You are doing real work.

Waving goodbye to 2025 and stepping into 2026 with cleaner protocols and better questions. Grateful for a kind year of learning, progress, and perspective. Wishing everyone here a happy, curious, and collaborative New Year. ☕

Having worked across wet lab and in silico #biology, I have learned this: #computation is not an escape from #experiments. It asks better questions first. One filters hypotheses, the other tests reality. Both deserve #respect, #funding, and #coffee.

Wearing both hats as reviewer and author in the field of computational biology has taught me this: reviewer comments make perfect sense until you receive them as an author.

Still, good review makes better science.

People say love is chemistry.
Bioinformatics says it is alignment.

Minimal gaps, high identity, no forced matches. If the score is not significant, it is just noise. Algorithms have a way of turning into life lessons.
