Plestia Alaqad’s new book features her diary entries reporting on the ground in Gaza for 45 days after October 7. after a hospital is bombed on day 10, she uses the word genocide.

2 years later—as the UN has finally called it one—she says, “turns out, that's only the beginning.” @teenvogue.com

I quite liked Mailchimp back when I used it, but I found the lack of support for Markdown to be a dealbreaker – I think it's great when you're designing more complex newsletters, though.

Ahh, that's a bummer. Good platform though. I used it for two years before recently shifting to Ghost, and never had reason to complain.

Buttondown is free up to 1000 subscribers (or maybe 500 now), and is quite reasonably priced at $10 per month after that. The only reason Substack is free at all tiers is that it's VC-backed and trying to become the next big social media platform.
