And they have it. In abundance. A day out in a fancy hat isn’t much of an accolade, and they know it.

You can’t bleach hate, though…

Burnham is only untarnished to someone without a memory. He’s stood and been defeated 3 times because he simply lacks the support. He’s competent enough but he’s bland and forgettable.

Anything with Peston in it gets a big swerve from me. You sit through 5 minutes of mangled, mannered delivery and get what? A trite, superficial bit of noise that doesn’t offer anything you haven’t heard a dozen times already.

Yeah, but your Treasurer and funder isn’t someone whose fortune is built on office space, I guess?
February 10, 2026 at 8:20 PM
Have to say - that was my take too. I can’t imagine a setting less likely to put someone at ease for a stressful but important interview…

This has struck a real chord with me: as a slightly-built gay man, I just had to suck it up when I got called whatever. So the notion of someone with more power and guts than I had landing one on the bastards brings me joy. I feel like you’re doing it for me too. Thank you, comeuppance men!

I can never believe that it *isnt* “Sign your name across my arse” by Terence Trent Darby…
February 10, 2026 at 5:24 PM
Both are gifts that just keep on giving. Both bring me endless amusement.

I’m genuinely conflicted about this. I’m totally with the OP, and I’m totally with the post calling it out. Either way - the far right are hypocritical cunts - can we all agree on that?

The whole “proposing on public” thing is really naff. It’s supposed to be the most intimate and private moment a couple can have, not an opportunity to show off, Gavin.

Seeing old white racists get their cummuppance brings me great joy too. The days of ‘turning the other cheek’ are over, thank god.

I don’t doubt the quotes are genuine. But at any given time, any Labour leader will have at least a third of his MPs who loathe and detest him and will happily deliver whatever the journalist wants to hear - anonymously of course. This fact is never mentioned by said journalists, of course.

He was my first crush…
February 10, 2026 at 11:20 AM
Why bother? They can sit on their spare bedroom, phone Diane Abbott for a quote and have a “Labour MPs in revolt” article online by lunchtime. It’ll generate more clicks and engagement than some shit about policy or delivery - and no pesky expenses! Everyone wins except…us.
February 10, 2026 at 11:06 AM
What the public want investigating? That’s not at all what they’re concerned with. All they exist to do is generate engagement and therefore revenue. Conflict and drama literally pays their wages. A drawn-out leadership crisis is manna from heaven.

I reckon he’d gladly drive the bus…
February 9, 2026 at 10:26 PM
I hope so. He’s a snake.
February 9, 2026 at 9:17 PM
Ah, they’ll ring up the 70-80 MPs who have *always* loathed Starmer and their next story will write itself. As always. Clicks, innit?
February 9, 2026 at 9:16 PM
Which all means - obviously - that Starmer must go. (That’s how this all works, right?)
February 9, 2026 at 9:13 PM
We have a huge political commentariat these days - bigger than ever before. Hundreds of livelihoods depend on a constant stream of drama, discontent, instability and anger. And they will do whatever it takes to ensure that they get the clicks their paymasters demand…
