The largest federal prison in the nation is Fort Dix, which has a rated capacity of 4,600 people. The largest of these warehouse camps may hold more than twice that number of people.

The federal government hasn't operated a prison camp inside the United States that large since Japanese Internment.

I keep thinking how much conservatives have surrendered in cultural messaging. Bad Bunny's performance was undeniably pro-marriage, pro-family, and the idea of accomplishing big dreams through hard work. All things the conservative movement has claimed to care about in the past.

In political philosophy, a central insight of (small-r) republicanism is that a kind master is still a master, and that relationship itself makes the subject unfree. Same with the ultrarich. Counting on them to put the interests of society before their own myopic interests is playing with fire.

briefly during covid, i worked for the company who is contracted by NBC to do Olympic captions. used to be done by a curated team of 10 employees with full benefits. since bought by a shady VC company who has aggressively sold the dream of cutting costs through AI and firing everyone all the time.
