One of the most delightful things about being 8 years old is that you can rotate through future careers like it’s nobody’s business: a professional basketball player, an artist, a geologist, a singer, a rugby player. Anything is possible. 😍💛

Any other expats wishing they could participate in a No Kings march? Solidarity to those preparing to peacefully hit the streets of the USA tomorrow.

AOC: “The republican majority is anti *legal* immigration in the United States and I want to make that very clear.”
AOC: When they say illegal vs legal immigration—they are trying to end legal status in the US making people undocumented and then they have the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented.

Hi. I’m Adriel. I have ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’ Or so I’ve been told. To be clear, if TDS is the diagnosis for believing historians, scientists, theologians, constitutional lawyers, international news sources, the words of Jesus recorded in scripture, and my own eyes/ears then so be it.

It seems the male ego made Trump & Vance ‘too emotional’ to be able to hold successful negotiations in the Oval. Should have been a woman handling this “deal.” Too bad American elections aren’t merit based.

Yes. The drug industry in the USA is out of control.
I think it would make a big difference in our health if we banned Pharma ads from America like the rest of the world does.

It’s very clear that the driving ethos of the USA is no longer democracy; it’s capitalism.

Maybe it always has been.

I’m 46 years old and tonight I’m watching Jurassic Park for the first time. I’ll say this: it’s very hard for a movie—any movie—to live up to thirty+ years’ worth of hype.

Always grateful for @nickkristof.bsky.social’s work.
Yes, USAID could use reform, but this is demolition. Trump braids together cruelty, ignorance and shortsightedness, and calls it policy, as the world's richest men go after the worlds poorest children. My column: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/o...

Trump, Vance, and their men are Neo Colonialists. Greenland, Canada, Panama Canal, Gulf of Mexico, Gaza. A real estate developer/TV personality grabbing the power of a king with the tactics of a dictator at the direction of bad actors like Miller, Musk, Bannon, and others won’t end well for anyone.

If you live in a RED state, call your senators. Tell them you believe in government efficiency but that you don't support Elon Musk's illegal attack on the Treasury. Tell them you know he has money - and that he's threatened them. But tell them you will have their back in removing him for power.

Elon Musk is committing a lot of felonies. He belongs in jail, and so do his criminal associates. He may not comprehend that. And if and when he does it may make him more reckless. No assumptions about where we go from here.

US foreign aid accounts for less than 1% of budget. Among most impacted: Catholic Relief Services, Save the Children, World Vision. Not only critical services, but part of garnering good will in the world—a pillar of foreign policy. It’s in everyone’s interest that USAID continues.
