About halfway through The Colony by Annika Norlin. 💙📚

I don't remember who or what account recommended this book to me but it's making me miss living in Scandinavia. I miss the freezing creeks and quiet hikes. It's not so hard to find quiet there.

Amazing thread on all the ways no one should ever believe anything DHS attempts to say happened to the *cough* stenography journalism *cough*
THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

The shutdown was an excuse, not a reason, to go after SNAP.

SNAP recipients have to re-apply either every 6 months or year. Onerous process, with almost no fraud.

There are no shutdown-related requirement for SNAP renewal. But it would predictably result in low-income families going hungry.

Update: about 40% in and honestly? Not lovin it. The pacing is good, though, so I'm still gonna finish reading.
Starting Herculine by Grace Byron now. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Imagine how different the last 9 years of our lives would've been if putin didn't have a photograph of trump performing a service for clinton. What a joke.

Is it just me?

Every novel I've read that was written by a trans woman in the past, say, 2 years, has opened with throwing around a lot of grindr vocab and dick-sucking scenes. As if to get the cis audience's questions out of the way. "This is the vernacular and this is how we fuck."

I have started 3 posts today with "anyway"

Anyway, time for bed.

Anyway maybe you can tell that I accidentally read some comments below some posts today and I clearly shouldn't have done that. Back to books.

Anyway here are my politics:

Leftists who vote, run for office, protest, and volunteer: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Leftists who call everyone who does the above a "liberal" then sneer at them bc anything short of a revolution (that somebody else will plan obvs) is "useless": 🤮🤮🤮 trust fund kid energy
November 13, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Sitting at home on your phone complaining that the "liberals" (pejorative) who are protesting ice are too nonviolent when the sum total of your own political involvement includes, well, that, is truly gourmet public masturbation. Really. Five stars. Gooning straight for the big leagues, fellas.

Just finished The Graceview Patient, which I'd pre-ordered bc I loved The Starving Saints so much.

TSS was GORGEOUS and if you liked Groff's Matrix, you'll love this one even more.

TGP was amazing but also a bit too real for me. Some traumas resurfaced. Read if you're ready to pick your scabs. 💙📚
periodic reminder that I’ve got two more books out this year. they are both unhinged in different ways. please try to enjoy each book equally.

I got my copy today (it came with a sticker!) And I know this is silly but I need it to be on goodreads lol so I submitted it to the goodreads librarians.

I can't wait for work to be over so I can read!

Rich people are complaining about their taxes going up and like, can't you just make more money? I swear, rich people these days just don't want to work anymore. They're so lazy and entitled. Like pull yourself up by your gold plated bootstraps, rich people, don't you always say that's so easy?
November 9, 2025 at 7:59 PM
Somebody help me the fuck out here. What is supposed to be so genius and titillating about Anaïs Nin? Am I just reading it in the wrong time? Was it more interesting in the 70s? 💙📚

Just finished The Antidote by Karen Russell. I've read a few books about the dust bowl, but this is the first one I've actually liked. Highly recommend.
