Budgets are about priorities.

Under the UCP, funding for public education and universities remains frozen, resulting in 'cuts by inflation.'

Funding for private schools has increased above inflation.

In a real way, this means money is flowing from public to private schools.

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings.

But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

An excellent and doable plan for using Trump's economic warfare to to get us somewhere safer and fairer than where we are right now. We used to call this kind of thinking The Leap. Still works!

It's about Canada but many other countries, in coordination, should respond to this shock in similar ways
