My website is back online. Still has some coding errors that I need to fix but the blog posts are readable and usable.

Please be patient until I can get it back 100% (you still can read the posts but you’ll see some weird errors at the top)

Pam Bondi admits she spoke to Apple to "get the ICEBlock app taken down." Sounds an awful lot like coercion to suppress disfavored speech to me. A clear violation of the 1st Amendment.

Bondi claims that the ICEBlock app was "criminal in that people were posting where ICE officers lived"

Almost a decade ago I wrote about doing ethnography of vulnerable and marginalized communities and how painful it was at times. My dear friend @tressiemcphd.bsky.social told me then “I hope you never stop feeling. It’s the difference in the work.”

And it really is.

One thing I think is undervalued in all these social networking sites is sharing half baked thoughts.

For me, these sites are sounding boards. Did I calculate my sample size right? Should I use Theory X? Which cases might be interesting?

There’s a lot of people willing to provide feedback.

I sincerely believe that in the 60's, the powers-that-be saw the results of middle-class prosperity and education (i.e., the civil, womens rights revolutions, etc.) and decided that should never ever happen again. Gutting the middle class and destroying the road to prosperity became the goals.

We also need to cap administrative salaries at the public universities. What little increases there have been in funding has gone disproportionately to high level administration salaries.

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

They do a dispatch every day, follow-up on the kidnapped people (which almost no media outlet has done), and fact-check government claims.

I got priced out of NYC & have to do a horrendous commute 1-2x/wk to my job in Queens. Mamdani's proposal for buses would still save me at least $300 a year. When our kids were little and we were still trying to make rent in Queens, his policies would have utterly transformed our lives.

There is a class component to federal agents' crackdowns. They're abducting day laborers, street vendors, domestic workers, textile workers en masse. They're not going after big employers/people in Trump's corporate milieu.
How ICE Terror Campaigns Are Used to Discipline Labor
While Chicago sees a surge of ICE detentions, workers are facing retaliation as immigrants when they advocate for their rights.

Notice how Miller reframes opposition to Trump policies as "designed to nullify the results of the 2024 election" as if winning means no one can oppose Trump or protest against him.

It's all so laughably hypocritical. Obviously he took exactly the opposite approach under Biden.

I have never been more sure about the advice/suggestions I provide on #RPVSky and on Twitter's #RPVTips than about reading.

I have spent the entire weekend reading and it just nurtures my soul (and my writing, quite obviously).

IF you are feeling stuck with your writing, READ.

I can’t believe that as recently as a few months ago, the consensus Democratic Party position, even on the left, was that you couldn’t call to ‘abolish ICE.’

Good luck to the Democratic candidates who run in 2028 while opposing the abolition of ICE.

A rogue fascist agency.

Miller’s apparent elevation to shadow president and his seeming intent to declare an end to the constitutional order would, in any other administration, be treated as a executive branch meltdown that was immensely embarrassing for the president and requiring Miller’s immediate removal
