i think it largely failed at anything other than destabilizing Republican politics! they achieved very little of substance, and then got swallowed up by later waves of republican radicalism without a trace.

I indeed would have more sympathy for the AI industry writ large around public perception if there hadn’t been years now of genuinely constant attempts at the highest level to make everyone who isn’t an upper-level manager terrified that AI will destroy their livelihoods

Ultimately you're not going to independent-professions your way out of a completely fucked polity. You have to do the work of politics to create respect for professional competence but accountability to the people's representatives. It's a tense balance and it takes ongoing support to keep going

replayed this recently and was really happy with how well it holds up -- the buildup of the neighborhood is also very well done and makes you feel real ownership, in a way that Hong Kong does not quite match despite being even prettier. (I love the ghoul sewer quest in particular.)
