Yep. This is my own mother's text to my 17yo son, her only grandchild, yesterday trying to recruit him. He took a screenshot and texted it to me, with the simple commentary of "Ew." She's been off the rails for years now and it just keeps getting worse.

Yup. I'm a social worker/benefits navigator. I run the basic needs office at a college where I help students in need apply for assistance programs like SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, and LIHEAP (utility assistance). Y'know, all programs that could just be gone soon. 🫠

Building Community challenge, days 4&5: Do you grow a garden, but the food preservation process feels wearying? That's because it's supposed to be a community effort, not individual! If you have a big kitchen, have a couple of canning parties in August/Sept. Play music and tell stories together!

Building community challenge, day 3: does your local library have a library of things? If not, ask them about it. If they're reticent you can ask them whether it's a funding thing, a staffing thing, or what. Then help them make a plan.
