Pope Leo has been saying it for weeks: the Church can’t stay silent while Trump’s raids terrorize families.

Today, he went further — calling them “grave crimes” against human dignity.
Pope Leo: Treating Migrants Like Garbage Is a “Serious Crime”
After weeks of denouncing Trump’s raids, Pope Leo says mistreating migrants is “a grave crime against humanity.”

Don't read this. I didn't.

But anyone who can even pose *or* publish such a question while there is a current excavation of the bodies of babies dumped by nuns in a septic tank has a huge issue with accepting historical truth.

Can people stop quoting these guys every time they decide to go public with far-in-the-future shit they've just made up? Altman's future depends on convincing investors he's some kind of prophet, and he has to distract them from the fact that the stuff he predicted would happen now isn't even close.

Millions of Americans tune into public TV & radio for factual reporting that isn’t driven by corporate interests or bottom lines.

But because Trump hates truthful reporting, he and Republicans in Congress gutted the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. A big loss for the American people.
Corporation for Public Broadcasting will shut down after Trump funding cuts | CNN Business
The CPB announced on Friday that it will wind down its operations due to the successful Republican effort to defund local PBS and NPR stations across the country.

THREAD: The New York Times just clarified something very important:

Israel isn’t starving healthy Palestinian babies.
Just the ones with pre-existing conditions.

Yes, really. 🧵

Israel has deliberately starved the people of Gaza.

It said it was starving Gaza over and over again.

It has done so systematically - with the full complicity of the West.

Israel has deliberately starved the people of Gaza. It couldn’t have done it without the west's help | Owen Jones
The current hand-wringing by Keir Starmer and other western politicians is empty bluster. They knew what was happening all along, says Guardian columnist Owen Jones

AIPAC is lying.

They want you to blame the UN — but it’s Israel that’s blocking aid, shooting Palestinians at food distribution sites, and using starvation as official policy.

Israel also dismantled UNRWA — the agency that was feeding Gaza.

This isn’t a distribution problem. It’s genocide.

It is a dark day for freedom of the press. Paramount’s decision to settle with Trump will only embolden him to continue his attack on the media.

Trump is undermining our democracy and moving us towards authoritarianism, and the billionaires are helping him do it.

Powerful piece by my colleague George Demacopoulos. “But it is both theologically and empirically wrong to claim that empathy is a weakness. It is in our collective interest to pursue policies informed by the virtue of empathy. And no Christian should be duped into thinking otherwise”
Trump, Musk, and the War on Empathy
George Demacopoulos offers a Christian defense of empathy in response to Elon Musk's claim that it is a "weakness" of the West.

There are different kinds of hope. The ‘Don’t worry, it’ll all work out fine’ type is no good to us. But hope with purpose, the kind that drives action, is vital.

We have to believe we can still steer our fate.
We have changed the trajectory of future warming over the course of my lifetime. The worst-case climate scenarios are no longer likely. That’s not due to modeling uncertainty; it’s because of activism. No one gets to erase that just because they find a perverse comfort in the certainty of defeat.
