Twitter's infamous gcLaborista, limerickist, and generally unpleasant shítstirrer.
I don't get why #feminists around the world are silent over the allegations of ritual sexual abuse in Israel. Yael Ariel testified to the knesset of abuse from 5-20yo. Several women have testified, but the West remains silent. These women need your support. #Sexual #Abuse

I've just come off an 11-day #cruise. Ship registered in Nassau. Passengers were generally white. Waiters & stewards mainly SE Asian. The impression I got was that they didn't have any days off and when one cruise ends another one begins with the same crew. It sounds a bit like slave labor. Is it?

We have a 19th C education system. Pollies fight over content: trad. facts v social building, but social media shows we don't provide thinking tools to make good decisions:

Confuse fact/opinion
Emotion with no fact
No evaluation
Cognitive biases

We can fix these with tools to overcome each.

I scrutineered at the election. My booth had ~8% informal votes. Most were empty; a few had comments; but a third (2-3%) showed the voter wanted a candidate - enough to influence results. Some put insufficient numbers, others a mark against a name. How do we help voters get it right in the future?

I'd really like to see this hashtag,

#tbddmcb,

(ie "the best damn democracy money can buy")

become a thing.

🧵 THREAD: Our reporter spent the past year reporting inside the State Department, trying to answer the central question of Biden’s foreign policy:

How did the U.S. let Israel get away with widespread horrors in Gaza?

I have the nagging suspicion that democracy has fallen. Athens had a participatory democracy & people caught not participating were daubed with paint to get them participating. Today we ostensibly have representative democracy. We are at the whim of the people we choose to do democracy for us. /2
