Many ectotherms deposit eggs within a nest cavity. This study leverages 14y of data and shows that ecological variables within wild nests interact with maternal effects over tiny spatial scales to have predictable influences on phenotypes of newborns.

Ballal's whereabouts are now unknown.

I'd also ask the same thing...! We need your best papers! If you're all going to the conferences of these societies, happy the prices aren't much higher, happy to see funding for students/caregivers/etc then remember ALL these wonderful programs are funded by society journals!!

Why aren't more researchers publishing in society journals?

Two potential reasons:

1) They're often unfamiliar to early-career researchers,

and/or 2) they need better promotion, a task for all of us.
