It’s honestly amazed me how many people seem to think her act is progressive or subversive or feminist. I mean it sometimes is, but mostly I just assumed people knew she got nowhere with her image before so purposefully pivoted to all of this.

I like Carpenter, I do. But much as with Lana Del Rey you’re never gonna catch me denying that she’s leaning on certain aesthetics to get ahead because it appeals to execs, to the right, and to people who love those aesthetics but can’t bear to think it’s not progressive.

This is the greatest thing ever.
