I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

I can’t wait to see it and support my boss (featured in the film) and all my librarian colleagues by sharing this film and spreading the word about what is happening.
I’m so grateful to Kim A Snyder for allowing me to be a part of this film.

“There’s never been a movie more vital this year than The Librarians. If you prize literature, intelligence, independent thought, safe spaces for children, it’s a necessary watch.”

i have plenty of thoughts on why it matters that this is an illegal order but here i’ll just comment that i think liberals who throw their hands up and say “it doesn’t matter” have self lobotomized themselves into thinking that trump is god king of america

a lot of you seem to basically believe that politics is over, history has ended and the absence of legal or electoral consequences for trump means that he is the only person with agency. you all are recapitulating the basic conceit of trump’s alleged invincibility, but from the center left

@UTAustin has been flagging these terms for a year, but it’s the first time we’ve seen the list. UT says it’s respecting carve-outs in SB17 for teaching and research. We must stay vigilant to ensure this is the case. Do not self-censor based on this list!

Honeychild, give me your hand. The only thing they are going to learn is to book future investor meetings in buildings with helicopter landing pads.

This go-round I’ve learned how to grey rock a narcissist abuser - not for their sake, but for yours. There is power in watching, but ignoring, and living the way you know is best on your own. Engaging with dehumanizers is dehumanizing.

Just a reminder that your local library has more than just books! Many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, internet hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and so so much more! Maybe it's time for a visit!

Everyone saying "the Hunter Biden will justify Trump's crazy pardons" forget that Trump was going to pardon whoever he wanted regardless of what President Biden did.

Cut the outrage.

You know, my kid scores in the top 2-3% nationally in reading on standardized tests. That info is only relevant because she was so late to reading. We had a terrible time getting her into it. She hated it. You know what flipped it?

Graphic novels.

Now she’s the best reader in her 8th grade class.
We have seen Manga targeted in Texas, too. Keep in mind book banners are working to restrict and remove (ie ban) books in public community libraries *and* school libraries- often the same types of books- even the same titles.

Demonizing entire genres is an efficient way to ban a lot of books.
SCREEN RANT: “(Tennessee) School libraries say goodbye to beloved Manga franchises… the Tennessee prohibition is arguably the biggest and most worrisome yet…”

Thanks to big government Republican censorship TN is fast becoming #1 in book banning. 📚 screenrant.com/manga-ban-te...
