I think in 2026 I need to both get more perspectives on my play/situation (which requires me to be brave enough to approach strangers for help) and work toward building trust in my own judgement. They are kind of opposite ends of things & I think feeling torn between them has stalled me out lately.

I've learned a lot about the kind of environments that I do well in and I want to be able to be picky and find a good fit instead of just joining the first team that will tolerate me. But ik I'm kind of a hard sell right now as it is, lol

rambling because my meds kicked in lmfao. tldr please be thoughtful to all of your peers. i am hopeful that we are getting better at this.
i will say, ive seen other examples of this community acting poorly with the intent to keep the community safe. not naming names, but i once got a dm 'warning' me about someone i planned to play with, that they were a bad person. when i pressed for details and investigated a bit more, the rationale for quite literally blacklisting this person crumbled really fast. what i saw was honestly reminiscent of lolcow treatment. the person had a few awkward or angry moments, but that was it. pretty behavior? no i guess not really. but it was pretty normal things to fuck up on, and nothing that made me feel unsafe to play with them. but i still got a dm from someone ive never spoken to before telling me this person was to be avoided. it wasnt lost on me that the person i was being warned about had several intersecting identifiers that make harassment and rejection more common. it was difficult, but i responded to the person who messaged me and told them upfront that i disapproved of what they were doing. and when i played with the player in question, it went fine and we had a lot of fun! and that was that. my point in telling this story is that this community has a strong sense of justice and i think thats commendable, but we must be more vigilant in inspecting the narratives we are given about our peers, that people arent just "good" or "bad," and that we cant rely on hearsay to just discard people entirely. we have got to approach these things critically and empathetically. i think splat safety is the key to this, but as a scene alltogether we must try not to approach incidents like this as just a quick time event where you have to align with the Good and Morally Right side. be kind and patient with eachother, and always come to your own conclusions.

like I don't feel at all emotionally bad about how I did but looking at the results I'm just "?????????????? was i even playing the game?????" lol ig I can always review later. I'm still just so high on how much fun it was. idk why but sometimes the late night sessions hit in such a good way.
