This has gone well beyond outrage on Twitter. An actual Congressman now wants to get a committee together to question Netflix about the show's trans inclusion, which they refer to as "recruiting" and "grooming." Not sure if this will actually materialize, but it should still be setting off alarms.

That’s literally what an ICE agent said when ICE, the FBI et al. raided an apartment in Chicago, including with a Blackhawk helicopter, separated children from their parents, and zip-tied them to each other.

I think Niffty is one of the first characters I've seen with very obvious mental problems (stretching beyond just mental illness and into neurological disability) who is regarded with respect and agency as an adult.

That's what pisses me off so much about Steven Universe. So many powerful messages that absolutely need to be heard utterly WASTED on a completely inappropriate storyline that actively shuns the idea of adversity. If the point of the show is PERSONAL conflicts, DON'T HAVE BIG BADDIES AND WAR ARCS.
