There would be political pressure in US against blocking shipments to Ukraine. Democracies, especially Europe is critical for US economy and security. North America and Europe need each other. That's why enemies of the free world try to destroy the transatlantic alliance.

European and other democracies should provide much more capabilities to Ukraine and stop being so weak. Sending weapons to Ukraine is very popular in US, being popular matters in elections. For Russia US is the enemy number 1. Most Americans know not to trust Russia.

We shouldn't let Russia regroup now. We should help Ukraine defeat Russia now that it is weak. Europeans are still buying way to much from Russia. Not just Hungary but also Spain, France, Belgium have helped Russia with billions in LNG purchases.

There are no limits to Russia's expansionism, but showing the goals for new oblasts is about Russia trying to appear stronger than it is. They'd benefit from regrouping, advancing through negotiations and later continuing the war from better positions once their oil revenue has recovered.

Russia, like brutal dictatorships generally, only honors agreements as long as they help them, and when it suits them, they will abandon the agreement while blaming their victim for violations. Only hard power will contain Russia, agreements to them are just paper they use to fool naive people.

As a consensus organization with some bad actors, EU unfortunately won't be able to do enough. European countries need to work also outside EU. Germany, France, JEF nations must take more leadership, coordinate with like-minded allies, and work quickly without being held back by Orban or Trump.

It's a bad deal, but we in EU are hurt most by the internal trade barriers which should be removed immediately. We should also find ways to include non-EU countries to EU market. Now trading in Europe is very complex, especially small businesses often can't afford the lawyers and customs brokers.
