Several people commented that due to the early 5:30 start time, they had not been able to grab dinner beforehand. They were grateful for the food. Coming out swinging against snacks is certainly a choice.

Commenter: I have a question! What does blah blah blah?
Commissioners: *dutifully scribbling down the question*
Commenter: Why are you looking down instead of making eye contact with me?!?
Commenter: *leaves before hearing the answer*

As a Trump donor who tried to buy a local election, I have a unique perspective on fascism. So when I saw that a beloved local publication had found a long-term home at the library, I knew that we had truly crossed the rubicon. #a2council

I had not thought of the angle of reduced insurance premiums due to fewer crashes and injuries. Makes sense.

MORE exciting events tonight for Neighborhood Week! And there might even be more cookies 👀 #a2council

Image advertising “dream big: shaping your community org vision into reality” tonight at 7pm in the Rackham amphitheater. The flyer features headshots of the four speakers and their topics. Lihn Song, “Building a Movement for change”; Donnell Wyche, “Imagining Ann Arbor’s Future”; Gaurav Kulkarni, “Why this work matters”; and Adam Goodman, “Reassessing vision zero”

Last night Ann Arbor’s Transportation Commission saw a presentation from Toole about the multilane reconfiguration study. I really like their methodology. “Rightsizing” these roads will dramatically improve safety. It was an excellent presentation and I look forward to the results! #A2council

It’s great to see other cities consider adopting this. Not surprising to see nonunion contractors against this. They don’t want it to spread and be seen as municipal best-practice.

@jnthnlvn.bsky.social put together a document that addresses some of this. It isn’t a rebuttal but it lays out the Pro case well.

I’m sorry for his family’s loss. I think they deserve empathy, whatever Charlie’s feelings were on the matter.
ajjaskie.bsky.social
I’m not going to celebrate his death, but I won’t shed a tear for him.

Whatever the confusing power struggles within and between the various bizarre right-wing factions, it’s disturbing that they are so comfortable with violence.
ajjaskie.bsky.social
But the hagiography, the sanitizing of his legacy, bothers me. This was a man who wanted my friends and family stoned to death, who felt that empathy “does a lot of damage” and that gun violence is “worth it” in the name of freedom. He certainly was not a good or moral person.

I never thought much of the guy, though to be honest I never thought much about the guy at all.

Putting overly-restrictive height and unit count limits on Low-rise Residential in Ann Arbor means much of our new apartments will be constrained to our car sewers. #A2Council

I thought that was the idea of the latest “we hear you and promise we are doing something about the problem” ordinance. But here we are.

seriously #a2council folks listen to this. It's broadly relevant to recent events, not just transportation issues.

What should have been a solemn day for remembrance quickly became a day for nationalism, hatred, xenophobia, and revenge.

It’s time for a reset. Let’s use this day as a day to remember and honor the lives of every victim of terror, throughout the world.

September 11 thoughts as we approach a quarter century.

24 years ago my generation watched it happen live on TVs in our high school classrooms. We won’t forget, just like we won’t forget the aftermath. 20 years of war. 70 9/11s of death. For what?
