Gaming companies do an odd shift in language when they release a new edition of a game. Oh, you released your 5th edition of TwilightHammer and Dragons? You mean you have released 5 similar but completely separate games that reuse the same name? Cool.

The nerd economy has flourished, and I can buy Dice from almost every outlet I want to support. But now I have leaned that decreased scarcity means dice can overrun my house, if I am not careful.

Facebook used to be a platform for talking to friends. Now the friends are gone and it is a platform for seeing ads. And memes, if your algorithm is properly trained.

I’ll bet that there are studio execs that have been sore about the existence of home video since the dawn of recording. The world of streaming, where nothing is owned and everything is rented, must delight them.

I feel like I say this every year but I really need people to hear it. Halloween is the best American holiday. Just kids outside welcomed into their world, marching around together, showing off their costumes to the elderly, parents meeting parents, neighbors catching up with neighbors.

We celebrate the stories of the tiny few who make it big with minimal assistance and the vast majority who fake it. We forget the caregivers and the people who need help but are capable of amazing things when properly supported which is most of us. Wonder how much society has been re-wired by that.

Duolingo advertises other games. I download the other games to change up the ads so I don’t see the same bad ones. The game I download is an Idle Game. The game is deleted from my phone forever. The cycle repeats.

A friend’s FB feed has a bunch of shitty ads he didn’t like. Just as far as the eye could see. Mine is mostly memes. I wonder if it’s due to the sheer quantity of memes I pass back into the platform. I breathe memes there. And will not apologize.
