Sullivan’s remarks caused a stir in Alaska’s legal community. Lawyers familiar with Gleason’s record say Sullivan is mischaracterizing her.

Sullivan criticism of federal judge is off-base, attorneys say
Judge Sharon Gleason just did what Sen. Sullivan says she never does: decided a case against environmental groups. Still, he says he's determined the next judge won't be like her.

Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously.

Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that.

Within the ranks of NOAA Fisheries, and among some in the fishing industry, there is a growing unease that the agency’s ability to carry out core missions could be undermined by the Trump administration’s push to shrink the federal government.

Firings prompt concerns that science supporting Alaska seafood industry could be undermined
NOAA Fisheries biologists working on key surveys were cut, and more firings are expected, while restrictions on new rules create challenges for timely opening of March harvests.

We as a country will save nothing. Federal employee salaries make up just 4% of the budget—roughly $271 billion. So even if every federal worker were fired, that’s the maximum you’d save. Meanwhile, the U.S. House GOP has released a budget that raises the debt limit by $4 trillion.
