Food is love. Sunday evening meal uses Julia Child’s classic quiche with mushrooms, bacon, & grape tomatoes.

I love making my own meatballs, because I know exactly what’s in them. But I detest making them, because my CDO nature can’t stand that they all are not the same size or shape!

While we were off cruising, our neighbors, the WhiteTailed Deer, so thoughtfully stripped the leaves from our horseradish stalks. Not pictured here, they also deheaded every chrysanthemum blossom from the plants in our upper garden. I hope they got a gut ache. #pests

The peony patch is right below the hook that holds our bird feeder in winter. A sunflower seed must have germinated in the protection of the peonies. The stalk is 4-ft tall; more flowers look to be blooming! #crazyplants

De mon balcone. Looks like a Monet painting outside; smells like a Paris chimney. Three minutes outside & my eyes burn. My throat hurts. Safely sealed up. On North Roosevelt. #fires

On July 6, 1964, a movie called A Hard Day's Night premiered in London, England. It featured four pop music members of a Liverpool band called The Beatles. It was in black & white, as many movies still were at that time. 12 songs were jammed into its 87 minutes. Predating MTV by 18 years.

I always have been proud of being from Minnesota.
In 2025, my Minnesota pride is bruised & shaken. Minnesota is just like any other state in the U-S. We must learn to live with the horror of gun violence & assassination. Rest in peace, Melissa & Mark Hortman.

De mon fenêtre. Morning brunch. A second fawn is behind its mother, nursing. The one in front is about to leap into motion. They move so fast! The doe in the foreground is last year’s family. Mama is big on twins; there is a young buck from last year, who has moved off on his own.

The Wednesday Garden Report. Lupines at Balsam Hollow are at their peak. Every year, they spread; we have stopped mowing down by the big azalea & the mailbox.
